7 Last-Minute Halloween Shop Window Displays | Creoate Blog

Written by Hannah | Oct 15, 2021 3:03:40 PM

In this post, we’re going to be walking you through seven easy, last-minute halloween shop window ideas. We don’t really go in for the all-out spooky looks — we prefer something a little more understated, something which will give your existing display a subtle nod to Halloween, without going for something totally garish or off-brand. And most of these decorations can easily be packed away and brought out year after year, without taking up too much space. Of course, we have plenty of wholesale halloween stock, too.

1. Bring in the bats

If you have a blank(ish) wall, a swarm or a scattering of bat stickers is an easy and sleek way to Halloweenify your display. And it’s a cheap one, too; Etsy has a huge range of paper bats starting from just a few pounds. Not got a wall free? You can stick them directly to the glass of your window.

This image pops up all over the place when searching for Halloween window display inspiration, and we can totally see why. Put together, classy and understated, it’s everything we look for in an effective display, and we think the bat wall really steals the show.

2. Scatter some pumpkins and gourds

Adding clusters of pumpkins and gourds of various sizes and colours to your display is an easy and subtle nod to Halloween, without the need to deviate too much from your usual setup. And if you go on to turn them into a pumpkin soup, you’ve got yourself a really eco-friendly option.

3. Go for a colour theme

You can see from our guide to creating a great window display that we love a cohesive colour themed window display. So if you happen to have a lot of orange and black products in stock, this is a really easy way to refresh your display without needing to splash out on new decorations.

We love how simple and effective this Lulu Guinness display is.

4. Hang a spider web

Like the bat display, a spider’s web is an easy way to inject some Halloween vibes into your existing window. Take this one step further by draping some ‘cobwebs’ over your lights.

5. Buy a banner or garland

We love a simple Halloween banner as it’s something that’s really easy to pack away and bring out year after year. Bonus points if it’s knitted, like the ghost garland in the Soak window display below.

6. Stick a vinyl on your window

A window vinyl may be a slightly bigger investment, but is a winner in terms of getting maximum impact quickly. They’re also ideal for smaller stores without much of a dedicated window space. We love this selection from Nutmeg Studio.

7. Ghost lights

As the evenings draw in, we love a cute string of ghost lights to illuminate your window display. We love this sweet set of non-scary ghost lights from Amazon.

Here’s a roundup of some more Halloween window displays we’ve found and love.

9. FAQs

When should a business decorate for Halloween?

This question will of course vary depending on the kind of shop you own, as well as your local traditions. If you'll be selling seasonal or spooky stock, we would recommend getting your Halloween decorations in as early as September. Otherwise, we'd suggest decorating your store and shop window no later than early October to really make the most of your display before bringing out the Christmas stock and decorations.

How do you keep Halloween decorations up?

Depending on the kind of Halloween decorations you'll be displaying, accessories and tools such as wire, rope, twine, string, or zip ties will be your friend. All of these are handy to have around, as well as adhesive strips or tack, and double-sided tape for securing smaller and lighter decorations.

How to decorate an entryway for Halloween?

The entrance to your store really helps set the atmosphere for any customers who happen to wander in, and is crucial for setting the right tone. Some suggestions we'd recommend depending on the space you're working with may include spooky seasonal wreaths and signs, decals for your doorway, a fun Halloween-inspired doormat, or even spooky lanterns to line the entryway. You could even line the edges of your shop entry with spooky lights or seasonally appropriate garlands.
